The way referrals work in adf.ly is pretty simple. If you have a referral then you gain 15% of what they gain. Contrary to what some people believe this DOES NOT mean that your referral will earn 15% less than he/she would normally. There are no disadvantages to being a referral! In fact, I am willing to personally help out any of my referrals with the site so you might even call being a referral an advantage (if you do something similar). The 15% is just extra money that you will earn and if you have a lot of referrals it can add up to a quite large sum.
Ok, so the next question might be - how can someone sign up as my referral? Well, for that they will need your referral link, finding it is really simple and the adfly site is pretty self-explanatory in that regard. Just look at the picture below.

My referral link looks like this: http://adf.ly/?id=1724442.
After someone clicks that link and starts the registration process they will become your referral.
If you have a website or a blog, you may also want to use a banner. It does the same what a referral link does except it more attractive for visitors of your website or blog to click. You can see these banners when you scroll down the page, they include the html code needed to embed them in your website/blog.
